Since its inception in 2016, the foundation has grown into a collection of intercultural communication experts, psychologists and educators; a team of more than 25 volunteers. In addition to the multicultural composition of the team and the rich life experiences of those involved, the Foundation has high-quality expertise in the field of culture. The founders and a number of volunteers are all connected to the esteemed Social Psychologist Geert Hofstede, who validated the stories on our platform and our approach to explaining cultural misunderstandings. Geert Hofstede has carried out invaluable research into the differences between national cultures, specifically in the way individuals look at organisations, each other and ‘others’. The result of his extensive research has provided a range of “cultural dimensions”, on which each country can be found to have a place. These dimensional scores allow for nations to be compared, relative to their cultures. At Connect2Us we translate these large scale comparisons into people’s everyday life. Our hope is that through understanding and accepting these differences, we can, in turn, understand what we all have in common.
